Boycott or No Boycott of products which support Israel Occupation of Palestine?

 إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلاَ مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلاَ هَادِيَ  إِنَّ أَصْدَقَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ وَأَحْسَنَ الْهَدْىِ هَدْىُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَشَرَّ الأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا وَكُلَّ مُحْدَثَةٍ بِدْعَةٌ وَكُلَّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلاَلَةٌ وَكُلَّ ضَلاَلَةٍ فِي النَّارِ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَمَّا بَعْدُ 

Praise be to Allah, we seek His help. Whomsoever Allah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allah leaves astray, no one can guide. The truest of word is the Book of Allah and best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah (alone with no partners) and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. My Lord, open up my heart [with assurance] And ease for me my task And untie the knot from my tongue That they may understand my speech.[20:25-28] Ameen

With the ongoing genocide committed by the apartheid Israel occupant state which is backed by the champions of "Human Rights" U.S.A and U.K on the unarmed civilians of Gaza of Palestine who are confined in the world's largest concentration camp. Although this is their day-to-day life now for the past 75 years, now it has been highlighted by the power of social media whereas mainstream media is still in their pockets, no real narrative rather a propaganda or masked news comes from the mainstream media. At the time I am writing this article around 11,000 humans have been bombed in schools, hospitals, refugee camp and squished like insects, killed in this concentration camp, mainly children, within few weeks since 7th October 2023. One can find the detailed breakdown done by Al Jazeera. In my opinion the Zionists are doing the very same thing which Hitler did with them in the form of Holocaust. They are doing Holocaust 2.0 for the past 75 years.

With this ongoing genocide, sane people of other countries feeling helpless as their so called stringed "leaders" are not doing anything to stop this massacre. People have decided to boycott the products which are in anyway support of Israeli occupation. Now there are two narratives among people on this. I will try to summarize both and will let you decide on which to opt for.

Boycotting won't make a difference:

There are people who say that boycotting won't make a difference, it is just an adrenaline rush and way to vent out all the helplessness and frustration. Some among them are again, pocketed. As we know that McDonald's Israel has pledged to provide military aid to the IDF soldiers in the form of 4000 free meals daily. Now there are two takes on this the one's who says that no to boycotting. They claim that boycotting the McDonald's of UAE, Qatar or Pakistan or the country in which you are living won't make a difference as they are an entity in themselves, I think they have no idea of how franchise model works or are pocketed or are fools 🤷‍♂️. They also say that if you boycott these fast-food chains in your country, it will affect you and people of your country will lose their jobs, who will provide for them.

There are others among Muslims who claim that be honest and if you want to boycott these products then boycott everything, they say that almost everything we use on our day-to-day basis are in one way or the other made by Israel or their supporters, even the blogspot that I am writing on is owned by google, the laptop or mobile phone you are using even the internet etc. So, they claim to boycott everything and if you can't then don't be choosy and in their words be a hypocrite and boycott only the stuff which you don't like. 

Let's face one hard truth that what they say is true that there are few to no products which are not in one way or another their supporters....

Boycotting makes a difference:

On the other hand, there are those who say it makes a difference. They say if it didn't make a difference then why do all these giants have announced huge discounts after people have started boycotting them. You can see major discounts by Starbucks and other soft drink companies as well, you can easily search it online on social media. 

Secondly, they claim if it didn't make a difference then why has Israel filed lawsuits against BDS movement in every state of America and unfortunately in around 16 state they won and now market owners of that state cannot say that we won't sell these products if they do they are going against the law😶.

People gives example of apartheid of South Africa which came to an end due to such boycott movements.

In terms of McDonald's boycott, they say that as we know in franchise model, the McDonald of your country has to pay royalty and some percentage of shares of profits to the McDonald International so in one way or the other, you are supporting the genocide. They say you should ask McDonald international to condemn the actions of McDonald Israel and McDonalds of Muslim countries should make a statement mentioning Israel as an Apartheid state and to condemn the genocide of people of Gaza. If McDonald international don't do anything then convert these McDonalds in your country into local brands and get free from the shackles of this giant which doesn't let you condemn this atrocity, in this way the people working there won't lose their jobs and it will support their countries economy. If we talk about McDonald Pakistan, we see that many outlets in KPK have been closed, due to which McDonald Pakistan alleged 10 million Pakistani Rs one time donation to Palestine which is equal to 35,451 USD dollars 🙄, in this amount in Pakistan one cannot buy a 5 marla house. Smart or should I say foolish move. McDonald israel's one meal is of around $14 and if they are supplying 4000 daily that's around $56,000.

These people claim that we should boycott the products that are supporting Israeli occupation of Palestine, one should go for alternatives or switch to local brands and keep in mind the "want" and "need". If there is something which is your "want" and it supports Israeli occupation like an Apple product or Netflix subscription or fast food, don't buy it you can live without it or shift to another brand. In this way you can do what you can.

One is accountable for his own actions, if he thinks this won't make an impact worldwide, still one should do it as he can justify to Allah that I did what was in my power. If McDonald is feeding the IDF soldiers and knowing that you still buy McDonald burger it is as if you are feeding the murderers, one can live without eating it. 

Some people say that by boycotting, you will be making people jobless and on top of that in a third world country. They say that even Allah has allowed eating of Haram as a last resort to save one's live,

.... فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ‎﴿٣﴾

...But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. [Maidah 5:3]

 you won't allow even that. Allah has allowed eating of Haram not killing someone and then eating it. Then based on this if someone is working in Bar, he may lose the job and then how would he feed his family, would you give the same fatwa?!

I would ask those people, I know it's easy to talk then to perform but when Dajjal / Antichrist comes he will hold the economy you can see Sahih Muslim 2937/7373, will that person make the same fatwa that no worries you can obey Dajjal and be alive rather than disobeying him and dying 🤷‍♂️. 

Secondly as some claim that we are using everything which in one way or the other supports it so no need to boycott. Allah won't ask you why you didn't make an Islamic state, he will only ask what was your contribution? if it was made or not that's not important. You have to play your part.

لا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا...

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity.... [Baqarah 286]

 ...تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ....

...And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression... [Maida 2]

If after all this, you want to boycott the products, according to one's own extent then there is a list you can find on BDS website or bdnaash.com. If you don't want to boycott that's totally up to you but do speak against Israeli genocide and raise your voice for Palestinians and remember the faces who are quite or under the table supporting Israel and are arresting people who raise their voice.
